There have some rare extreme been cases where children lived with wild animals in forests and indeed they resembled their social behaviours. (Don't recall sources to include :( )

The scenario as described has many similarities with the movie 'The Jackal'. Also it says that the victim got out of the car after a distraction, even though he was traveling in a bulletproof car with an armed escort. This is a ve

Yes that may well happen. It's also noteworthy that the BTRFS change was driven by community members, mainly from Facebook.

It also works great with Newpipe. They now even have their own F-droid repository so that you can get the latest updates asap when YouTube makes a breaking and they fix it.

I just format them with Gnome Disks (that uses LUKS in the background and supports many filesystems) and use a strong (LUKS) passphrase that goes in the password manager. Has been pretty reliable and widely available.

The user does have the freedom in forking the project and hosting it elsewhere. AGPL is actually about enforcing that the user has that option.

More available resources to update dependencies and hopefully plug in CI/CD pipelines. Curated runtimes by appstore/OS vendors would also help. Also since most if not all the code/images is open source, automated vulnerabilit

It's not flatpak, its the Gnome software center. Not the same thing. However removing the sandbox picture for apps that use the filesystem=host/home permissions on Gnome Software would be a better representation of reality.

In essense there's two main issues raised: 1. Apps still use the filesystem=host/home instead of intended portals bypassing the sandbox. 2. Common runtimes have un patched security issues. Re 1) This is a backwards compatibility o

The ask is not really to have a snap never update. The ask is that you have the option to update only after a user allows it. This has the side effect that if the user never says yes, the app never updates. However the true goal is that you

Pinebook pro is using an arm64 cpu instead of an x86. That creates a big list of problems that you don't have on x86 because that's what all linux desktop developers have (mostly) been targeting. As one example, I was surprised to

At worst the "joke" sandbox value of flatpaks is the same as deb/rpm packages and snap "clasic" confinement. So as a user, you don't lose anything security wise by moving to flatpaks. Flatpak, as well as snaps
