Because Numbers in javascripts are floats, and not allowing floats in numbers would be a serious backward compatibility issue. Also, I'm assuming there are performance issues with using bigints.

There's more nuance to it though. Users eventually become contributors (at least some percentage are), they become and stay contributors when they feel heard and feel like they have the ability to influence development. That's wha

No, but it's very likely that they'll make decisions that'll alienate the community and thereby cause it's ecosystem to lose more and more relevance. It has done that with other open source projects they stewarded.

I think his fear of google's stewardship of the language is the fear of what it'll do to the community around it.

Google are bad at building developer communities (or at the very least they don't care about it much). They build things for themselves and their way is the Ivory Tower way of running a community. The overlords decide and their word is

I think an interesting way to address this impact, is to start adding more time to each task and address it as technical debt, which is both informative and actually true. For example after a few months of no refactoring, you start adding 1

At what point in the past were our programs stable, robust and just worked? Perhaps it was before my time, but DOS and windows (3.11, 95) would crash, constantly. Blue screens of death, infinite loops that would just freeze my computer, mem

That graph is quite misleading, it should be a percentage of total usage, if we wanted to show progress. Global energy consumption could have grown just as much, making progress zero. This graph shows things more accurately: https:/&

Flashed died out way before canvas. No one but design shops made their websites with it. It remained strong in games and ads and disappeared everywhere else. That is why apple could even survive not supporting it.

Well, mmm, good riddance? I suppose this will cause a lot of hardships to a lot of people who need to maintain JavaEE, but the fact that Java EE is no more is nothing but good. It is a nightmare case of overengineering.
