The country-wide median for SWEs in the US is about 110k$ AFAIK, the median household income in the US is 1.3 times that of Germany, which with an average German salary SWE salary of 46k€=53k$ (I know, should use the median here, but I coul

Berlin, along with Munich, is probably the hotspot for tech in Germany, so I think the comparison is actually quite apt.

The average German developer works for some non-software low-margin company where he only has limited impact on the business and is treated like a cost center, while the average SF developer works on tech projects with huge margins where he

Working hard like that isn't really rewarded working for software in Germany, which is why people don't do it as much. If you work hard as a lawyer in Germany, you might make partner or something, which is why lawyers are prepared

C itself is not particularly complex, especially compared to other languages, like C++. It does have a ton of footguns and nasty UB things though. But writing good, safe code in C can be very complex. That doesn't make the language its

Kind of ironic, AFAIK SQL was first envisioned as being so natural language-like that it could be used by non-programmers.

I think NAS is a bit higher level than what the OP had in mind - NAS isn't usually used to search for fundamental operations like self-attention or convolution. But I guess you could probably adapt it quite easily.

Multi-head self-attention seems to be the new trendy architectural primitive. I don't know how feasible it would be - I guess you could take a set of base operations (matrix multiplication, softmax, etc.) and randomly generate feature

I have absolutely no contempt for the skill. Why would I? But I do recognize that building costs are expensive and that building stuff could be faster and safer and thus think that automation would be good. Same goes for my job, really. Aut

If you mean median or average, both actually. You have to quite poor to be worse off (on average) in the US than in Europe (don't know about Japan); last time I checked it was something like the 10-20th percentile. FWIW, I am European,
