It's still extremely heavy compared to any native Mac app. On my M1 machine, Slack (plus it's 4 separate helper processes) is currently using a total of 679MB of RAM. The Mail app, in comparison, is using 147MB.

Seems like this would be useful to organizations who use G suite for their accounts &authentication. That way each user can sign into their work machine using their Google account, instead of having a separate username/password.

I’m an engineer in Office. This is not the case. The desktop app’s are fully native, and will remain so. They utilize React Native for a few components, but otherwise are written in C & C++.

You can run a web server on iOS, and you don’t need special entitlements to do so. Depending on how you implement it, you may have problems keeping it alive while the app is in the background, however.

Yet they said the same about Swift, ResearchKit, etc. Those are successful open source projects. FaceTime is the only recent project they said they would open up and didn't...and that arguably wasn't their fault.

Make sure that device isn't listed in your devices if you sign into iCloud.com with that account and go to the account settings.

They work just fine for OS updates, I just installed one on mine. The only thing you lose is an Apple boot logo.
