The western name thing is all about pronunciation. It also helps when you realize all other personal information on a candidate might be redacted, except for a name. It predates the current cultural climate by decades.

Counterpoint to this, is that I’ve seen people be reluctant to click where they are not reluctant to touch. That barrier is vital for people who did not grow up with tech to interact and experiment with it. Here’s one question: hover on foc

James Lindsey hit the nail on the head years ago comparing it to religion. I think you’re optimistic in your formulation that there is redemption in that system. That or it’s a very useful paraphrase.

I don’t think it’s a coincidence that it ramped up during COVID and it’s worse in western countries (actually would like to know if wokeness is affecting non-western locked down countries).

Yeah. I kind of wish people held your viewpoint more. I actually see a lot of things happening domestically and globally as a regression to the mean of human civilization.

Help my ignorance here, but why is the first response seem to go federally? Corruption seems to be a huge issue for Chicago, and the city is mostly run by one side for a while so why can’t they get anything done?

The American political right faces constant scrutiny from left learning news in America. The simple fact is that somehow labor unions seem to be turning against the political left, which means someone messed up big time.
