I run https://extensionpay.com which lets devs take payments for their extensions without needing to run their own servers. So I happen to know that my users have made over $11k since I started earlier this year! Not bad. I also

The impact on garages is going to be one of the many knock-on effects as we uproot polluting infrastructure from the core of our economy. A similar thing will for tradespeople electrifying houses with heat pump heating/cooling, hot wat

Neat, always great when someone makes minimal software that fits their needs. Inspiring to see it done in a relatively small amount of code, too! Right now I rely on Google Music for desktop and mobile streaming but it kind of sucks. It

Yeah, so your argument assumes that retrofitting radiators with heat pumps is the only way to install. Not true! You left out mini-splits which efficiently heat rooms and have the added benefit of being less expensive and disruptive to home

Why do you say heat pumps only work in well insulated houses with large radiators? Heat pumps are ~3x as efficient as the best gas furnaces so why would you need a better insulated house? Also, the problem with hydrogen is how do you produc

That's great that that happened! I think it's to the point now where we need everyone to do that. Was it hard for them to physically change out their gas system for the heat pump? Was it hard to find installers or units?

I'd add to that that we're already scathed! The higher temperatures have already affected the oceans, wildfires, droughts, and increased intensity for weather patterns like hurricanes.

> Are all properties suitable for a heat pump though? That's the question. Generally, yes, but of course it always depends on specific circumstances. Read up on heat pumps! They're really cool. And yes they're like air con

Ah, in the US gas is the most common and I'm not sure about the UK — just going off what the article mentioned. But yeah, my understanding is that burning gas in your home produces less CO2 than burning coal or oil, but they ALL pollut

What kinds of issues did you have with your heat pump? Was it the unit itself, installation? And where do you live? It's unfortunate that the heat pump ecosystem isn't as developed as it should be. Feels kind of like installing Li

I'm glad you laid out all the misconceptions about heat pumps! > It's going to be hard to convince folks to replace their gas water heaters with electric heat pump models that cost ~3x more and save little to no cost annually.

Any code that controls money needs to be super solid, but I wonder if Chia's smart contracts[1] would help? Their VM is functional and doesn't have stateful side effects like Solidity/EVM. The Chia team claims this is more se
