How about we just make people pay for their negative externalities, and let them do whatever they want. Tonnes of things people do are wasteful, no one needs a sports car either, but for some people it is worth paying extra for it. Why shou

Kind of a self-defeating list. As a PoW cryptocurrency becomes more popular, the value of a single coin goes up, so the mining reward will go up in terms of USD. As a result, the equilibrium energy usage in mining goes up proportionally to

I don't think I have that much need for precision. But it would be good to have at least some analysis of the costs of an additional 0.5 degree increase, given that limiting climate change is one of the biggest global efforts right now

What are the actual consequences of the globe warming by 2 degrees instead of 1.5 degrees? I feel like I never see it quantified. Like is that the difference between Miami being underwater or not? Is that difference going to cause an extra

Pretty absurd how much of a step up the Falcon 9 is from previous launch vehicles. Landing a booster seems far harder than just doing a regular launch and dumping it in the ocean, and SpaceX can land 3 of them at once with the Falcon heavy.

I don't think I have to drive a Tesla to conclude I hate those things, because my experience with pretty much every other product I've used has consistently re-enforced how much I hate them. There is no circumstance in which I wou

I think people are naturally going to be biased against Tesla because of all the misleading marketing. Even if the experience on its own is good, it's tainted by the way they (mainly Elon, but not exclusively) chose to sell it. Also Te

Sounds pretty ideal to me. It wasn't worth it for the drivers, so some of them left, driving up wages and decreasing demand. Supply and demand working exactly as it should. I'm sure if more people start to take Ubers again, wages

I think Google actually allowed you to just use your phone number to recover your account, so it was effective 1FA. In that case it would be less secure. They might have changed it now though.

I don't get the point of all those cross-country routes, isn't air travel both faster and cheaper once you are going long distance? I mean I would love to cross the country by rail for entertainment, but as a common method of trav
