I think SMS 2FA is fine for the most part, so long as you have a decent password, the problem is when companies introduce recovery numbers and make it back into 1FA

And they probably aren't wrong either. Even at companies made of mostly programmers, those people aren't necessarily the ones making the decision about which communication platform to use.

I don't think an "enter at your own risk" sign would be enough to protect you from lawsuits. Even if you win the lawsuit, it is still expensive.

I think that is pretty intuitive though - a day in surgery is almost always more risky than a day being sick without a surgery, because you are taking on some short term risk in exchange for reducing long term risk. That doesn't mean t

I think terminal is largely targeted at bigger businesses, where as this product is more like Square, targeted at small independent businesses and shops.

I think that comment was in contrast to what they said about the fan: > This option does apply a decent amount of cooling at idle and under load, it also moves the heat away from the board unlike the heatsink. I think the comment makes s

What is this "unimaginable grief" you think outlier patients will receive if anonymized data is provided to Google? Seems a bit hyperbolic.

There are mathematical ways you can guaruntee different levels of anonymity though without removing all identifiers. Ex. you can increase age and location buckets until for every unique set of identifiers, you have a good distribution of at

I think it looks better in windy weather - it doesn't have a large flat wall which will catch wind and potentially collapse.

I don't think that is high profile in the same way though. You will never be well known for doing well at FIRST since the highest level of competition only has ~6k entrants worldwide. Even at the level of FIRST, I think there are some

Less 200 people die canoeing in the US every year [0], so I don't think it is particularly dangerous. Surprised your canoe sank though, usually they are supposed to have air pockets so they float even if full of water. [0] https:/

This is actually exactly what I was looking for a couple months ago. Would be great if there was some feature to automatically record movement, didn't see it on the site. Not sure about the security section though > All of our servi

Some places have flexible pricing, where electricity costs more at certain times, which allows users of electricity to do this. I don't think it should be the grids responsability to do that kind of scheduling. It would be nice if ever

I think most companies are no longer expanding much in the bay area, but if you already have a lot of employees there it's pretty hard to convince them to move. Once you have a house and a family it doesn't make much sense to move

The A-10 and F-35 are completely different planes for completely different purposes. The F-35 attempts to be able to perform most of the things the A-10 does, but you can't just say one is better than the other overall. The A-10 is pro

It looks very similar to the Volkswagen xl1 [0], even has a similar bar across the front. If you believe Wikipedia, the xl1 also had a much better drag coefficient of 0.186 [1]. [0] https://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/

I think this is one of the most misleading articles I have seen on the front page of hacker news. First of all, being on OSHA's "dirty dozen" does not imply you are one of the most dangerous workplaces. And the report this ar

I think black lives matter has more to do with what is happening now than with what was happening in the 80s. Protesting because we are treating opioid users better than drug users 30 years ago doesn't make much sense.

I think Musk has no choice but to ditch Lidar. He has promised to provide full self driving on cars already on the road, and retrofitting all of those cars with Lidar is incredibly expensive.

The cost of uploading a PDF of links is probably not much less than the cost of following those links on your own. So I don't think you gain much by leveraging Facebook in this case.

One of the nice things about slack (and it's alternatives) is that it is really easy to hop in a channel and see what is happening in a part of the company. Lots of times I find a bug or issue with an internal tool, and go to the relat

So is there no point in any privacy laws then, since your assumption is the US government will violate it? Laws give you a way to win a lawsuit, at the very least you have that.
