I really don't like how all the media seems to be focused on case counts, they started rising significantly a couple of weeks ago in Ontario, and yet hospitalization are still only ~15% what they were at the peak. Hospitalizations are

I feel like this could lead to massive wait times, as people stop dropping out of the queue. If I have a problem that isn't urgent, normally I would hang up after waiting for a while, but with this you don't have any reason to so

Hearing a child crying doesn't just make me aware that someone is distracted, it also distracts me and makes it much harder to communicate. I would much rather have one person on the call be distracted while on mute than have the entir

I think the fact that the time-restricted eating group did slightly better than the consistent meal timing group is actually pretty strong evidence that intermittent fasting is effective. At least for me, it is much easier to only eat durin

How many people actually have inadequate vitamin D levels? They chose a fairly arbitrary amount (30 ng/ml) as their measure for an inadequate level.

I dislike Tesla's misleading FSD claims, but this is a pretty unfair test imo. They timed the movement of the pedestrian so it was only in front of the car when it had less than 10 feet to stop, of course it will hit it. I don't t

I think the problem is that of the people removed from YouTube, the vast majority are going to be removed for unsavory or misleading content, so any alternative anti-censorship sites are dominated by those people. You have the same problem

In many places, the deaths due to covid per day are less than car crash deaths are normally, especially among younger people. So if you are a healthy relative young person in one of these areas I don't see how hiding at home is a smart

For drag racing the green light goes on 0.4 seconds after the last orange light, so you need to react in 0.4 seconds to leave at the green light (in practice you need to react much earlier to account for the time it takes the car to leave).

At that point isn't it better to just set up some bookmarks? Navigating 700 tabs is much harder than navigating a hierarchical bookmark list. Personally I only keep open tabs that I am actively working in, if I have more than ~15 I get

Maybe if you are poor, you are more likely to seek out temporary happiness at the cost of longer term consequences, because your life is generally more stressful. So if you worked another day at the job you hate you are more likely to go ge

I think if you are making 200k a year (which you almost certainly are at Stripe) you probably aren't in a position to complain about salary. I don't have much sympathy for someone complaining that instead of making an absurd amoun

I'm not convinced because as the article says, it's not realistic to recycle many kinds of plastic, and because I don't see the harm in safely burying garbage. In my city there is an old landfill which has now been covered in

I'm not convinced that it's actually a bad thing to dump plastic and paper into a landfill. You just cover it up with dirt and plants every 20 years and build a new one, pretty low impact as long as you have it properly sealed off
