The "write-only" feature could be implemented without a third-party with a keypair.

AFAIK, A Chrome app is a glorified bookmark + offline support. An extension can add buttons to the toolbar, manipulate web pages, etc.

I think that *nix commands can be split into roughly two groups: ones that feel like generic "actions" and have multiple implementations (ls, cd, cat), and ones that refer to specific pieces of software (curl, emacs). The first ca

Chrome has a bug filed: https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=254361... I can't tell if Firefox has a bug for this exact issue, but they do have some open color-management related issues.

One thing I've noticed is that Chrome and Safari have a visible difference in color management. Try opening [0] (<style> body { background-color: rgb(88,174,235); } </style>) in both browsers side-by-side, for example.

I hope not the address bar, as that goes to Google (or $searchEngine) for autocomplete.

I think Yahoo used to (maybe still does?) set it in a cookie, letting the browser's same-origin policy enforce it.

I'm a fan of SuperGenPass[0], though you need to use the "mobile" version. The bookmarklet is insecure. [0]: https://chriszarate.github.io/supergenpass/

There are eight billion people in the world. There are 4 billion possible planets. What is your plan for when urbit takes off and reaches internet-scale? BTW, ~bitret-worwyd here. ;)

Headline is clickbait; could the HN title be changed to something like "cable companies won't compete because they want to leave acquisition options open?" About as long, and far more informative.

Spammers are going to figure out how to manipulate these if it gains any traction; if I were a spammer, I would just send each email from a different MH email address with the same username. See also Throttle[0], which does a similar thing

There's always Haskell. :) On a slightly more serious note, I wonder if Haskell and Elm are similar enough that model-style code could be written in a shared subset and run on both sides.
