For your kitchen sink example, as a customer, I'm far more likely to go to the local eBay/Amazon equivalent (here it's Mercado Libre, an eBay subsidiary), than to google the web (of course in the U.S. you might find more rele

During an "Entrepreneurship" class, some classmates started investigating about SMBs web presence.. and yes, a LOT of SMBs find their Facebook page to be a lot more valuable than their website, often forgoing the website. It'

I think so. I've been quoted 10-20k for a mobile app (here in Uruguay). Costs do pile up, but 50 to 80k, well managed should get you way beyond an MVP. I'd try to budget half for marketing, testing and other non-development activi

Plenty of website builders out there (someone mentioned Wix). Not to mention Facebook is the de facto website builder for a LOT of small businesses. People will still pay money out of convenience :) (fortunately for a lot of guys).

Same as the sibling comment by lorenzhs, I've never had a problem with AliExpress other than the long shipping times (up to 3 months to Uruguay). I've never bought electronics though, mostly stuff for my GF. And prices are incredi

China is the #1 producer and buyer of electric cars. It's still 1/300th of all cars sold, so it's not mainstream, but the tremendous growth is there (see the graph on the first article). It's actually the U.S. that'

Depends on the country. I had an U.S. manager flip out when I mentioned my age during a remote interview, totally different to here (Uruguay) where it's a normal requirement in the C.V. (along with a photo). I've been told both ar

It's not 100% guarantee of a scam. I live in Uruguay and forwarding services are very valuable to me. It is extremely unfortunate that scammers are using them, this means a lot of sellers won't sell to me :( .

The author should have used WhatsApp, which is the iMessage equivalent for Android :) . Works on the desktop too. Or Facebook messenger if he didn't want to tie it in to a number. I also disagree about the notification system, but YMMV

That's definitely some kind of local myth. Here in Uruguay (and South America in general), it's the opposite, programmers are viewed as math nerds. I believe the same happens in Europe (especially Eastern Europe), and Asia. A lot

I looked very hard at moving to New Zealand. Auckland sounds AWESOME, but what really scared me is San Francisco-like property costs and a really, really high cost of living. Everything else was highly positive.
