Plane crashes have been going down not only in the U.S., but worldwide, which is commendable. A bit unfortunate for this to be posted a few days after the Chapecoense crash shook the world (noted in the postscript), but that was a regional

It sounds more like a problem with your family and THEIR expectations than with yourself. If you're able to make a product, you'll be ahead of 99% of people. Don't be afraid to put yourself and your product out there. If you

My own dystopian prediction (and extrapolating from trends) is that more and more of the population will enter the services economy: - in zero-sum activities like advertising - providing services for the mega-rich (there will always be dema

The way I was taught, it sucked to be a peasant in the medieval ages. They had to work for their masters AND the church, before working for themselves. Whatever little they kept could be bartered, I guess. But I definitely wouldn't cal

I had acute pain in my right hand last year - went to a doctor, wore a brace, now use wrist pads, and it went away. So I second the advice of seeing a doctor. The week with the brace was awful, but, as other posters mention, it's the p

Congratulations for starting and putting it out there :) First impression is that it looks good. I didn't like the too long, out of context and unattributed quote at the beginning though. It definitely threw me off (wasn't I here

Vienna's city center is car-free except for police and ambulances. It's a medieval city so it's much worse than Manhattan in regards to narrow streets and not having been designed for cars. It does have AMAZING transportation

Both Nava and healthcare.gov people replied, in under an hour. Looks like a win for the OP (or as much of a win it can get in this fucked-up situation).

Paul Graham (and Y Combinator I guess) believe that the difference is the goals. A startup is a company designed to grow fast. PG, 2012 http://www.paulgraham.com/growth.html http://www.forbes.com/sites

I was trying to disprove "We struggle to get people to move to Iowa because of the cold winters" , by showing a place with harsher winters and a lot more migrants. Maybe Canada is a much better example. People don't go to I

Seconded. I've hired a freelance through the university network (though, if others are like me, don't expect stellar rates :) ). You might want to ask at a local accelerator or meetups, plenty of people need a helping hand.

Why does it have to be remote? Try asking to be an intern at a local startup or small company? If you don't know any, ask at the local university. As many said, finding a remote job as a first gig is very hard. Heck, it's very har

Really interesting article. I'm also a bit naive when it comes to geofencing (but, then again, I'm not engineering in a 50bn company). Waste of existing talent is unfortunately a way of life at large corporations :( .
