I dunno, I'm trying to square "political beliefs that are [...] above some group-politics that sees some groups oppressing others" with, well, okay, I have two close friends who are trans, and one of them lives in one of thos

What's amazing to me is how many people are so quick to dismiss the kind of poverty we have in the U.S., just because people in the poorest developing nations have it worse off. Why this status quo is one anyone would want to defend

Yes, probably most people are materialistic, low IQ, and shallow. You're probably no different, and I don't mean that as an insult -- just that you're human, too, like all of us. Welcome to the club.

Like I said the last time this subject came up, fine. That's totally fine. I don't care which incumbents will be okay in a world with better laws around privacy. I want better laws around privacy. If your startup to unseat Sales

I don't really care about making their licensing regimes exactly the same. I just want people who love their guns to start paying back the rest of us for the externalities of living in a society drowning in those guns.

I am all in on licensing guns like we do cars, with mandatory tests and insurance requirements.

Why would that experience be aspirational? Why should that be the way we want to structure society? Especially when other western nations show us that university can be free and people can have a rich college experience without that kind o

Not me, and not people I know. You do a crime, pay your debts, welcome back to society, rights and all. I also think that the second amendment can be regulated with laws just like all the rest. No one ever screams that driver's licen

What about a state senator or representative? Could your state start enacting a privacy framework, that would apply to businesses that wanted to do business in your state? Sort of like California emissions for cars.

You misunderstood, maybe intentionally as a gag. I'm more worried about the constitutional rights being denied ex-cons than I am about people who want to carry guns. The people who want to carry guns are doing fine, it's the ones

Right to vote is denied to huge numbers of people who were convicted of a crime and subsequently repaid their debt to society. I'm a lot more worried about them than people who want to carry guns hidden somewhere in their clothes.

Is there any constitutional right that isn't also regulated with all manner of laws on top of it? Why would the gun one be any different?

So? States should be free to decide the terms of concealed gun carriers in their states. If you're rich enough to travel with people with hidden guns, you can get them licensed in the states you plan to visit.

I've never seen a plausible explanation of why a health care system would work for 60 million (UK) but not for 300 million (US). Bodies are mostly the same, they break down in mostly the same ways. There isn't a lot of mystery in

Paying taxes isn't getting fleeced. I can tell you feel passionately about this, but your feeling that you're being ripped off by your taxes isn't going to translate well to any sort of workable policy.

Agreed, 100%, on live and let live. I'll never force anyone to get a phone, smartphone, use texts, or whatever, but for the people who are that disconnected, well, they add a friction to social interaction that ends up excluding them.
