These megacorporations answer that you're using a 'private platform' - the answer is to use a public platform. https://youtu.be/SkaaPcjKI2E

I'm working on an open source forum platform intended to compete with Reddit. https://member.cash It uses the concept of competitive moderation, allowing users to choose the moderators they want for any give sub. It's

member.cash aggregates all of the decentralized social (web3) sources. So far, Hive, Deso (Bitclout), Memo and now RSS feeds can be added. Using RSS as a source is big new feature - I use it as my main social media platform now as I can add

I wonder how scalable this is - I seem to remember reddit started out with this initial idea, and when starting member.cash, it was in my mind, but maybe at the back of my mind. I guess at minimum it requires users*users rows, and an increa

Sure, I just installed it and its saying some impenetrable stuff about a swap address that is not controlled by my wallet and deposits will be converted to Lightning channels. It's prohibitively complex.

The cost and complexity of opening channels for users is prohibitive. Any widely adopted solutions will therefore be custodial. Might as well use PayPal.

Sigh. Bitcoin BTC, at 3 transactions per second, doesn't have the capacity to support El Salvador's economy. Even if Lightning worked (it doesn't), BTC doesn't have enough capacity to open channels for users at a reasona

If you're highly motivated and technically expert, you might be able to get non custodial payments to work on lightning. Even then, your experience may be something like this - https://threadreaderapp.com/thread/13

Yes, this seems relatively little to me, given the age of the (more commented) results and current controversy on the topic.

Yes, each action on the blockchain requires a small transaction fee but the fee is paid by the end user, not the server operator. There are advantages and disadvantages to this, but remember the old saying, 'if you're not paying f

Twetch is interesting, especially the marketing. However, while it uses a blockchain, it is a private platform and does not use an open protocol (probably to create a moat).

https://member.cash The website is a window to the platform, but anyone can host a mirror or a personal version, all it requires is a Bitcoin Cash node. Its fully decentralised, with self-sovereign identity and is uncensorable.
