You say free software and of course, it's nice to have source code and flexibility. I have nothing against licensing and it looks like things are moving there. Do you have a recommendation for Metal / DirectX support for that kind

Another need for that kind of effect is for real-time events. I work on software that is used to create visual effects in real-time. It's used in live events such as concerts, clubs, corporate presentations. There you want to be able t

The idea of the Radio Plans decoder is that the video black level was a little bit higher than the start of the signal after the horizontal pulse signal. Because of that, it was possible to detect if the delay was 0 1 or 2... Canal Plus rea

The AVKit only plays a few codecs. It's fine if you are in the Apple ecosystem but many formats from Windows or Linux will fail with it.

The FFmpeg project is amazing but a constantly moving target. This was very popular around 2015 but is now broken because the API changed. If you want to try that code you must download an older version of FFmpeg.

I am a happy OBS user on macOS and use it both from streaming and recording. I never had any issue playing an OBS recording on macOS or uploading it to YouTube.

You can lower the size of the canvas to need fewer resources. I am using OBS a lot with a MacBook Pro Mid 2012 but I stay in 720p.

Exactly, while fast if this method needs to parse the full track before starting to generate the results then it can't be used in real-tine. To be used with arbitrary audio in real-time, after initialization and setup you need an API t

It says it can be 100 times faster than in real-time. So can it be run in real-time? I am thinking about extracting features for music visualization but it could make a DJ happy also.

You can do this with youtube-dl and FFmpeg. If you create high-resolution GIFs, you will end with huge files, that's surprising. This is because the compression, after reduction to a 256 color table, is lossless.
