Google has almost all of that building, plus most of the two city blocks west of there. There was also some story about them building up the pier west of those blocks?

There is little evidence that homeless people move for better services, and this article doesn't cite any. But regardless of that: saying something is a Federal Issue, is basically washing your hands of it. What are the chances of the

The only reason Phoenix/Firebird/Firefox got a foothold was that IE6 was basically abandoned and there was so much low hanging fruit (Tabs! Ad blockers!). But then Firefox got complacent with their performance, giving Chrome an in

According to the stats in this article, you save more battery just setting your brightness to 50% than using a dark theme. More than a 60% reduction in power usage for the screen.

Do people often have their screen set to 100% brightness? I never set my screen above 40% brightness on my Nexus 5X, and often turn it lower at night. I ask since the numbers seem to indicate that dark themes have a much smaller impact at 5

I was a pretty heavy Yelp user when I lived in SF, but I found the ratings not really that helpful elsewhere, even in NYC. I mostly use Google Maps these days, and while I don't necessarily trust the user ratings or it's personali

Cremation puts 540 pounds of CO2 into the atmosphere; the average human breathing puts out 2.3 pounds of CO2, so it's basically the same as breathing for an extra 234 days. Or being an American for ~3 days. We have far larger fish to f

Unlike other waste, we position cemeteries (relatively) close to where people live because they want to visit, so it has a larger impact on people. Not sure why this article shits on cremation though, the greenhouse gases emitted seem truly

As long as you don't remove it, you haven't made performance worse, but you may not have made it better either, and you have probably done damage to intrinsic motivation. For sales, this may be fine, to the extent that no one has

Being down X% after a pretty serious bull run isn't really a big issue. I'm not relying on stock sales to fund general living expenses, rather the stock tends to be more about savings, since the base is pretty generous as well. So

A rational company optimizes profits, rather than just revenue, when your costs go up, you may be interested in raising your prices, even if it reduces the number of items you sell, because part of the revenue has to be paid to someone else

If this is a tax on sales, rather than impressions, they could prefer international sales by 2%. If this is a tax on views, then this is harder. Facebook could also raise the reserve price for auctions for UK ads.
