In the long run, without any wage theft, you should expect any increase in tips lead to a reduction in base pay since employees only really care about their total comp, not whether it comes from tips of salary. So while this practice is scu

I think it's the exact opposite - the CPM didn't change, so the tail is just as expensive, at least the way Chase was using it.

Yes, there is no need to have a PhD to do ML, either applied or research. Not to say there isn't good research using advanced mathematical/statistical methods, but most of it is not. It's entirely a signaling game.

I would, particularly since drugs/bitcoin seem like pretty low level offences. But I work at a large company and have no control over that now. One thing I have heard is that big companies often care whether you have a record from the

I think we're arguing the same thing, but my point was that at some marginal rate (around 70% give or take 10%), increasing the tax rate causes you to get less money from rich people, which all but the most radical fringes of the left

What is the goal that justifies raising tax rates so high that it starts lowering revenue raised? That's basically cutting off your nose to spite your face IMO.

I don't really want to drill into what's happening with AMP, but I am skeptical of attempts to move from domains to some concept of real world entities with signing. We tried that with EV certs, but it turned out pretty easy, alb

Not sure what the issue is? At gaming.youtube.com there is a live tab, where you select the game, on youtube.com/gaming you select the game you care about, then click the live tab.

Interestingly, YouTube gaming is basically an attempt to fight back against Twitch, and I find YouTube streaming works far better than Twitch streaming. I just get far higher quality streams with fewer glitches. Not all edicts from on high

I think we need to seek new models for investigative journalism, not new funding sources for an old model. I think journalism as a profession doesn't make a tonne of sense, and the same function could be pushed out to the wider communi

There is some difference in research scientist hiring, both in the method & the criteria. But as I said, these roles are very competitive, and most PhD holders in FAANG companies will be in SWE roles.

For increase supply to have no effect on price, the demand curve has to be highly inelastic, but this just isn't true. People very much do make decisions about where to live based on the cost. At the margin, people may be more likely t

I agree that you need to keep building housing, but I also think it's important to not concede the point that it will have no effect on housing prices. The GP is flat out wrong in their assessment that prices will just return to what t
