I feel your pain. The same thing happened to me about two months ago, but sadly my laptop never recovered. When the tea hit the laptop there was a load of buzzing, and that was the last of that laptop... Luckily, the hard drive survived, so

For C#, the book I always find myself going back to is C# In Depth by Jon Skeet. It's one of the most accessible books I've read, and it's one I always recommend to other devs that are interested in the language. http:/

Could both not exist together? I have to claim ignorance on the idea of unions and chartered professions, because I've never worked in an industry where they've been an option. In the UK, unions tend to have a bad rep, and any tim

This link has already been posted, but I think it deserves some discussion around the subject of unions. https://michaelochurch.wordpress.com/2012/11/18/programmers-... A union doesn't necessarily seem s

Twitter is all in the users. If they start charging for an account then they lose their users, and therefore a large chunk of their appeal. With that being said, I don't know why they don't charge for verification. Hell, open up a

Nope, not really. I usually check my phone if I get a notification, and once I'm done with my phone I get back to my work. If I'm swamped and I've not received a call I'll leave my phone until I'm at a natural break

For those of us that work on bog-standard websites for clients, I definitely agree with some of the points. I've worked on numerous projects where the latest and greatest tools at that time were used wherever they could have been used,

I've been made redundant once before, but luckily landed on my feet right away as my contract (and the companies clients) were taken over by another company. The best advice I can give as someone on the other side is to: 1. Do it quick

The main thing I want from Microsoft is for .NET to be fully cross platform. There have been some significant strides, but what I would love is for Microsoft to effectively come out and say "In x years time, .NET and Visual Studio will

I usually just tell them a fake number, around the kind of number that I want to be paid. For example, if I was getting paid £35k and I wanted to be paid £40k I would say £40k. My main reason for doing this is to see how flexible the compan
