This seems potentially very shortsighted, as difficult as it must be to measure exactly how much of their success on mobile was due to the free advertising on Armor Games, in and out of game.

I'm glad they do. IE9 spurred a lot of competition around GPU accelerated 2D rendering and we all benefited. Even now, IE11 and 12 are dramatically faster than Chrome on my laptop in terms of how quickly pages load, scroll, etc. Even

The Windows 10 preview that's out right now works well enough for casual use today. I've been running it on my laptop since it was available and have had a few minor issues, but haven't had any real trouble using it as my pri

Yeah, that's the main thing to take away from these events. I've never seen a system (cloud, local, co-located, or otherwise) with 100% uptime, despite every effort to the contrary. Even sites like Facebook and Google have downtim

For what it's worth, I've been watching several Azure-hosted sites that I control and they've been coming back online sequentially (and are all back online now). Whatever they're fixing, it seems to be taking some time,

I appreciate being on the winning end of your double standard! I'm with you on the caps. It seems superficial, but it was such a pleasant relief to see the all caps menus gone when I opened VS14 for the first time.

.NET has a higher level built-in mechanism for dealing with translated content (Resource files). I don't think this new language feature is intended to replace that.

It really depends on the hardware you choose. I switched from a MacBook Air to a Samsung ATIV Book Plus (what a name...) and can't say that I've noticed a difference between the trackpads.

I'm planning to do the same soon. There are three Microsoft stores here in the Atlanta area. I'd just rather do just about anything other than fight traffic to get to one.

I recently migrated a couple of my sites away from directly sending transactional email, to using MailChimp's Mandrill service. A few months later, I only wish I had done that sooner.

I was pretty underwhelmed by Apple's watch and have actively disliked the Android watches that I've seen so far. I use a Fitbit One every day currently, so the new Fitbit Charge bands with some phone integration kind of piqued my

Still, probably proportionally less layoffs in MSR than the rest of the company overall during these cuts. The insinuation was that Microsoft is shuttering Research entirely, which is very far from true.

That headline is confusingly worded, but Microsoft only laid off 50-75 people in one MSR location. That was far from the entire division: http://research.microsoft.com/en-us/labs/default.aspx
