If you restrict the allowed countries to United States only, or play US Mode then the state is offered as a hint. However, if in other game modes the city name includes the state name then you automatically know it’s in the US which doesn’t

You should get a toast notification in the bottom right saying how many miles away your guess is from the correct location. I know there's no instructions, I'll add those soon, but also let me know if the guesses weren't tell
