This is what they did for the StarCraft pathfinding, but I can't back that up with the links I wanted to send. Also, StarCraft definitely uses the static map for long paths, units will get stuck if you block choke points with mobile un

Big second on horizontal scaling. Amazon Redshift is a great example of what's possible, but it also has enough problems that you can't really use it as a primary application database.

All very cool stuff (awesome to see serious work done in Prolog!) but... Actually cloning the rules isn't the issue. Convincing the community to use your off-brand version is the issue, and trying to keep the community together in the

It's very hard to do an open alternative to MTG. MTG's ecosystem is very closely tied to the economics of the physical cards driving the development and community (ie card shops.) Tools for playing magic without cards of course ex

Back at my last position we used slack almost like a notes application. I still like it a bit better than confluence. Documentation, sure, think. Slow down. But notes need to be immediate or they won't get captured at all. There slack

Seems like 'the lawyers who made the license' and the OSI might be good authorities on what's open source. I'd love to hear a good FSF rant about RAIL though.

If it's using a RAIL license isn't it not open source?

The author addresses this. Such a scenario requires explaining why comms systems were turned off one by one as if by a person rather than an instantaneous event like an asteroid strike. Also, it would be a very big coincidence for not only

The article digging into Sedaris was especially silly since it's clear that he's a comic (and a great one at that) and the fact that he may have taken NPR for a ride just makes him funnier.

Awesome. I built a decent little top down tile shooter with free graphics but realized making more levels would be mostly an exercise in editing tiny tile squares so I decided to do other things.

In your story though the hapless dev just changed the test. And the reviewers approved it. This suggests that there are so many changes to tests that it's just become background noise.

XML isn't the problem. It would have been great if it had been introduced now, in a world totally comfortable with unstructured hash soups and trees and such. Trying to map it cleanly to a strongly typed world was the problem.
