Sure, but that should be part of updates. Even if developer doesn't take care of it, you can rebuild the image to update libraries. Of course app might stop working, but at least other apps/containers still work and you can revert

Also, in this case (and presumably others) rejection is exactly what founders needed. Judging by the write-up they were ill prepared and rejection is what forced them to take a huge step back and re-evaluate their approach. Would it happen

> ...life's too short to worry about who our corporate overlords are This is not what freedom of choice is about (to me). What I care about is the amount of power they yield over my experience. In Linux their power is low. Windows?

This is one of the reasons for Docker containers to be so popular. They are basically statically linked apps, carrying everything they need within themselves. But - I like that. Not having to worry about some library version because I know

MS did take it to the next level, but for me any application which phones home without users consent is in the wrong. This is one of the major reasons I don't use Chrome. Anywhere.

Except that buying Docker will accomplish nothing. The genie is out of the bottle. And VMware is arguably in a better position to profit from it because of their ties to customers.

It is available in Gitlab CE too - we don't use it yet as we already have one in-house, but we might migrate in future.

Everything is simple if you know what you are doing. Kudos! I had my own share of adventures with SIP across NAT so I know it must have been lots of experimentation and studying to find this simple solution.

It is not a limitation at all in this case. Python is just a front to Tensorflow and similar libraries/frameworks so GIL doesn't matter there.

My main objection to such systems is security. It is difficult enough to take care of it in modern frameworks, but in C?

I find FF actually faster than Chrome. But maybe that's because I actually open multiple tabs which load in background, then I just switch between them. Though to be fair, I never knew about this difference... It just felt that Chrome

No, "freedom for the user" is exactly what it says. GPL cares about end user, not so much about developer. Original developer just gets to decide which group is more important in his particular case.
