Except - you are not searching for opportunities, you are working. It takes your focus and time. I agree that it helps you get by , but the cost is much higher than it would be with basic income.

That should actually be possible with todays technology. Take an image and draw subtitles on it. This is input to train NN while original image is training output. Even better, use video stream directly... Not easy, but not impossible eithe

Another path would be to somehow engage community to help. But Apple doesn't have this modus operandi AFAIK.

Read his comment again, you are missing the point. He is not offering you a phone , he is offering lower level components and showing you how it can be used to build a phone. Feel free to jump in and help him! Congrats to OP, hope this t

I usually give aliases for such accounts because of this (and because of data breaches). Send me spam and I don't have to put up with your UI to unsubscribe, I just delete mail alias. Of course, that doesn't work if I want to rece

Thank you for this tip! I have always installed Abduction plugin if I needed this, but the less plugins the better.

Just start a project, whatever you would like to see built. You will either build it or you will learn a lot. Win/win. Just don't invest resources you can't spare.

Cool project! Optipng does many other optimisations but could be taxing on CPU. It should be very easy to put it in the stack for test though.

That's not what "release early" means (to me at least). Once you have big PR push you better have your product ready...

Just curious: did Facebook change the license? AFAIK they can revoke permission to use from 3rd parties. Am I mistaken? If not, isn't this a huge risk for startups?

I try to explain my motivation behind change in commit log and avoid technical details myself. But I have another checkpoint. I always diff the code and review it as if I had to show it to a reviewer. If I need to explain something, it shou

It is similar with the product we are developing. When I need to explain to the user how some feature is used, I often end up redesigning said feature so that explaining should not be needed. Makes for a much better UX. :)

I love Linux, but the WMs are not its strong point IMHO. There are many of them and each tries to invent some new desktop paradigm instead of polishing existing experience. It's OK to be boring - just do your job and don't get it
