A company claimed my use of their software library was outside what I paid for, so they wanted 17 years back pay at a ridiculous rate. I had an email from back then from them saying my usage was within the license. It didn’t even occur to

I would have agreed with you until this year where a single email from 18 years ago, which I didn’t think anything about at the time, is saving me from being sued. It doesn’t matter until it does. I got lucky.

It’s none of my business, but I say this out of hoping to help: you’re almost perfectly describing depression. You are depressed. I’ve been there, and still deal with it, but it can be helped with a variety of methods. I hope you will ta

That’s true, but UHC alone has $6 BILLION in profit each _quarter_. A whole lot of that could be going towards health care. In my opinion health insurance providers should not be for-profit.

People opposed to the war are getting drafted and sent in whether they like it or not, and getting killed. It’s a tragedy for both sides.

I don’t know if that is true. Not all Russian people (or even a majority?) are in favor of the war. But they still need to eat.

I believe, if we could be copied to the cloud, that “me” is much more than neurons, and affected and defined quite a lot by the particular physical body we’re housed in. You can say losing an arm doesn’t change who you are, but it definite

I know a woman who is absolutely sure there are half-lizard/half-human “people”(?) living in the sewers of New York, which she knows about from a secret news group. Some theories are absolutely BS and crazy. She’s even a nurse, so und

My “mentors” (or other people who influenced me) mostly taught me (a few different times) to expect more of my output. As a programmer that meant to spend more time thinking things through, write bullet-proof code (as much as I could) and

I don’t know if it helps, but Tūl brand pens in the US are gel pens like you mention. I’ve never had a favorite pen, but I do since a friend introduced these to me.

I’m in no way qualified to answer, but I recall reading about a slew of publications being retracted across all fields after the results couldn’t be replicated. If I remember right there was a team that has become infamous for simply tryin

Those who don’t know their history are cursed to repeat it. And unfortunately, if 51% of the population doesn’t know their history, everyone gets to repeat it :(

But is the moral of the story that the guys that made the bad decisions got their bonuses and moved on, and aren’t affected by the aftermath? That’s what I fear the MBA’s will learn - don’t stick around.

Not just TV. I think every funeral I’ve been to here in the US (a dozen? Two dozen?) had an open casket “viewing” before the funeral began. Very common. And I’ve not known anyone to get cremated, but that might just be the circle I run
