I feel similarly. I hunt for the Unsubscribe button to every email I don’t want and/or mark it spam in my mail app. It makes a real difference after a while. Unfortunately, companies know most people aren’t like us so they keep pumpi

How will you prove the decentralization is real and not some BS written by a scammer? How will you prove your app matches the open source to someone that can’t compile it themselves?

You’re in the fun phase of designing the tech, but that’s not where the problem lies. I don’t trust you at all. You can tell me about the system you’ve designed, but I only have your word that it really works that way. Trust is 90% of yo

You probably just hit a billion dollar idea. Come up with a (many really) car computer replacement. They generally use standard protocols and there can only be so many variations. Your solution could end all the car subscriptions, give m

I don’t usually get excited about database tech but this is amazing. Is there anything similar for SQLite or SQL Server?

I have to disagree. For some reason our industry seems to attract a lot of people that are enamored with the tech for tech’s sake. I was one of those. It has a huge epiphany to me at 26 to realize the tech didn’t matter - it was the peop

Look up the Swedish ship Gotheborg. It sailed from Sweden to China and back. They take volunteer sailors (who know nothing) for sailing legs of varying degree. Best adventure of my life so far. Hopefully it will sail again.

I don’t think manufacturers are purposely making the cars harder to repair - they have to meet stricter and stricter fuel and air quality standards, so need more and more tech to squeeze out more /same performance while burning less fu

True. WWW came out of Zurich as I recall. On the other hand, if someone doesn’t productize a technology and get it into peoples’ hands, does it matter that it was researched?

Amen! The funny thing is this sounds like a “get off my lawn!” rant, and yet it’s so true if you’ve been around long enough to have seen a few tech cycles. But this also only seems to matter if you are NOT in a “move fast and break stuff”

Honest question: are we burning mountain ranges of carbon every year? I’m trying to get a feel for the size of the problem compared to the solution. Or is there a reason for the size difference if not? Assuming the answer is yes, do we se

I’m sorry. It’s difficult to live with a sick partner, and most people can’t quite imagine the myriad of effects it has (unless they have also been there). You’re not alone if that helps.

I like this definition more. The other way is basically to redefine the meaning of the word “time” to something more akin to “sequence”.

So? Compilers compile and LLMs do not. Compilers use linkers and LLMs do not. Arbitrary distinctions don’t means “this time it’s different”.

I think you’re assuming your reference is the correct one. I can’t reason about the assembly language that the compiler spits out, the microcode in the CPU kernel or any of the electronics on the motherboard. That anyone can or not doesn’

Seriously? Treating joke CVEs the same as true sev 1 issues is beyond silly and counter productive. There are very real limits to time, money and attention and pretending otherwise is foolish.
