First one just turned two. I waited until I was 40 to have a child for this reason. I wasn't ready. I didn't trust my relationships with my demons. I didn't want to burden her with my shit. Still got a whole lotta unbecoming

Sometimes you have to crawl through a river of shit to come out clean on the other side. I have suffered from overachiever syndrome / high functioning assholeness for most of my life. Constant doing, constant striving, constant movemen

That's not a sale. That's a question with absolutely zero investment or action asked of the participant. Take an actual payment. Even if it's for vaporware (that you can eventually deliver on and that's properly messaged

I flew enough as a child and then with my first job to be comfortable with flying. Never really considered fear. Then I took a flight back from Vegas to NYC and it ended up in an emergency state as both hydraulic systems were lost on takeof

We have many of these in the US. I've used two in daycare. One was amazing, the other is pretty good. Both fall short because of poor use by teachers and faculty.

Highly recommend HBO's new mini series (documentary) about big wave surfing [0]. Lots of heavy wave action in it and they delve into the very unscientific manner in which surfers and surfing orgs "measure" these monsters. [0]

Not OP, but I would hope the original comment was intended to imply that emotions should be _responded_ to (as you noted) and not _reacted_ to. Responding involves understanding, "naming your enemy," and contextual consideration.

It's also just a very un-nuanced way to think about anything. It reminds me of a scene in the show Scrubs where one friend is discussing the difficulties of being a child of divorce. The other comments how he always found it interestin

An element not mentioned much in this thread is the significant challenges in using actual photography/people: expensive and time-consuming for custom work, super choppy legal waters (can't tell you how many times the subject of a

I get asked about meditation every now and then from friends and their friends. Here's what I tell them: - Meditation is not a spa treatment for the mind. Certainly not in the short-term. I'm sure there are many meditation-like ac

The same thing that would make me pass over a resume/cover letter for a job I'm hiring for: vagueness. The more specific and transparent a posting is, the more confidence I have in the buyer knowing what they need and who they nee
