?950x chips in particular are binned that way, the first die is an "Epyc"-grade bin, the second die is a bin good enough for ?800x (or, if sold as 6 cores, both of the ?900x cores). AMD binning independently works of functioning c

There are multiple lengthy writeups on the good and bad of Go that have made it to the HN front page multiple times over the past 5+ years. The little search bar at the bottom HN works pretty well, sometimes better than Google due to HN

How is it useless bias? Go has not proven itself that it has what it takes to be a language that a developer would want to use. What problems has it solved that no other language has solved? What problems has it solved better than other lan

I'm not part of the Go cult, so I simply do not get why people would start brand new projects in it when so many other good languages exist that actually seem to have taken off and become popular enough to survive long-term.

That is an often quoted, but incorrect analysis; an amp that distorts audibly is not a good amp. I can buy both solid state and tube amps that do not distort relevantly. The perfect amp is a wire with gain, no matter the technology it use

I love how nobody actually answers the question in that thread. Audiophiles neither like nor dislike tubes vs solid state amps... historically, tube amps had better corner case behavior; usually the corner case being less distortion driving

So why not just use OSC 52, which is built into most terminals? The functionality required already exists.

Obligatory comment that the only way to make a stable and well understood Linux system is to uninstall systemd, and shame on any distro that forces you to use this shambling corpse of a project.

Programmers have many secret languages they talk to computers with. This is about a secret language that allows computers to make pretty things on your screen, being used to put video on there too.

The standard reply to this complaint is "use chrome.css", which sure, you and I can... but Mozilla has repeatedly threatened to remove support for it altogether. I don't even have to write the css, I can just use https:/

No, that's quite accurate. Apple is now giving you permission to use the device that you own and paid money for, and before today, you couldn't use something you owned and paid money for.

Extension for required core functionality is surface area for an exploitable security issue. The Edge development team has been adding features to their browser just to limit that surface area: don't need extensions if its built in.
