The dipshit business point was made more elegantly before and it's valid. I remember seeing some video of TechCrunch 50, where Kevin Rose sat at a panel with other tech celebrities and criticized all the proposals as small ideas or somethin

Good ideas take a while to develop. You need to be familiar with the domain to execute them well, care enough to put in the work. What domain are you familiar with? HTML/CSS/JS? Backends? Programming IDEs? Text analysis? Surfing the web? (U

Ah that does sound like a dud business wise. It would be nice to see more extensive stats for each site I use, like digg, forums, HN, etc.. but most sites and users could do without it. The user won't be paying for these stats, so the site

Sounds a bit vague and similar to what I am working on. Is this basically analytics but not just on the content creator's site but any other site where the content appears?

Are you thinking something like Mozilla's Bespin? I would use Bespin if it was polished, it's open source too. I'm not concerned about the difference between cloud based or desktop based as far as storage. We're backing up everything to git

It's not a purely technical issue. Some languages are more popular than others, popularity means more libraries, frameworks and examples. Languages also attract different audiences, those who code C++, Java and ActionScript 3.0 just love pi

Social network websites are similar. Github has followers and will probably add related projects or individuals that work on similar projects. The difference for me is facebook is a mess, it's too big, the design has gotten very sloppy and

They did JavaScript concurrency wrong! omg! http://rosettacode.org/wiki/Concurrent_computing#JavaScript We have workers now. But seriously, it is an amazing resource. I was looking this stuff up on wikipedia but that has almost no detail.

Yea those have some fancy live JS editing capability, where you can edit the JS, it runs the code with the changes but without restarting the whole program. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TH7sJbyXHuk

lol, ok the site owners don't "owe" web carers, but they're very vulnerable to their actions. People who are building the web and profiting from it are not people to cross. Either the web stagnates as they give up, and you lose, or they blo

They owe it to people who care about the web. Those people will make them pay and it's easy enough to do. Simple JS scripts to extract big chunks of text or aggregators that will take your content without linking back. Not to mention player

Well that "now I'm not going to visit your site" depends on a lot of things. I may not want to visit that site, but most sites I go to are linked from somewhere like fb, reddit, digg, hn, so it's hard to remember which sites I don't want to

Yea they really need to change the background behind the code. There are so many new frameworks with unknown user bases and support out there that their website design can be the difference between getting users or not.

Production apps will ultimately be ported to the web if things like NaCl take off. Porting current apps to the web as they are with the goal of having them in browser, have them run inside Chrome OS won't change much of course. But that's a
