Presumably it's another case where an intelligence agency lost control of an exploit they developed, the same thing that happened with WannaCry.

What difference do you propose between "just call this function" and "just call this signal handler"? My feeling is that nobody uses signal driven I/O because signal handling is error prone and complicated. In fact,

Besides the role of grouping a bunch of related fields, structures are also regularly used to define file formats, network protocols, or in OS development for data structures interpreted by the hardware. All these things would break without

I don't know. If the court thinks there was a deal between Uber and Levandowski where they "fired" him for the duration of the trial, only to hire him back as soon as possible, that could lead to contempt of court charges, I

In C++, there need to be e.g. two overloaded versions of the index operator on a vector: one taking a const vector reference returning a const reference to the value, and one taking a non-const vector reference returning a non-const referen

It's impossible to know how much exactly is required. (While structures are fixed size, arrays indices are not.) Linux allows you to configure the limit at /proc/sys/vm/mmap_min_addr.

These people have done this work (and it's great!), and in their self-selected benchmarks programs they claim about 16% overhead: https://www.cis.upenn.edu/acg/softbound/ This is only memory safety, not using

They are talking about Plan 9's network file system protocol. I'm not sure what they were using it for. I've seen it used as the easiest way to share a host file system with a Qemu/KVM guest OS.
