The thing about Vim is that I cannot imagine creating it and thinking, "This will be much faster and easier than a mouse eventually". But, I also wouldn't think that I could learn how to type fast without looking at the keys

Yeah, I could see how that would be quite frustrating and defeating. There was no satisfaction greater than fully completing a game. Can you imagine reading a book with some of the chapters missing and requiring external resources to read?

I think it's unfair to compare U.S. consumption with that of Europe. It is a much larger part of the culture to casually drink a glass of wine with, let's say lunch, than it is to do so in the U.S. Because of this, it makes sense
