Who writes python this way? Good Python code, being such a flexible language, relies on conventions. Never seen the id() function in production code. "Is" is canonically used for "if var is None", not string comparisons.

I find the mysticism in the article of "why are they doing this?" a little disingenuous. Drinking is fun

There's no dismissal here, merely the quotation of a ridiculous statement, which dismisses itself.

This... Is a good thing? Time goes on, production scales up, and and things get cheaper, no? Shame to see the Elon hate on HN, he has made an exceptional product that is kick-starting the green energy revolution.

Bash is good but can grow out of control. The problem is solo engineers and managers who push/approve 500+ line bash scripts that do way too much. A good engineer will say it's getting too complicated and reimplement it in Python.

It is against VISA ToS. Small businesses can risk it but large businesses would get sued and VISA would refuse to do business with them

Just because the categorization can be ambiguous, doesn't mean it isn't useful. A donut is clearly more processed than juice, while juice is clearly more processed than an apple.

Carbs have important ancillary roles in recovery and muscle build but the headline is wrong. Simply put: no carbs = reduced performance, no protein = death.

TLDR the brain is complex and while the three main classes of psychosis-inducing drugs have distinct principal mechanisms, there's likely a significant degree of overlap.

Yes. You should probably start with a monolith. If you really scale then toss the htmx FE, expose an API, and slap a react project on top. Django lends itself to this growth pattern very well.

It's because the traits that make a good programmer like high introversion and interest in the abstract are exactly the opposite of the traits that allow you to exert influence in a company.

The threat of bioterrorism is in no way enabled or increased by LLMs. There are hundreds of guides on how to make fully synthetic pathogens, freely available online, for the last 20 years. Information is not the constraint. The way we'
