My issue with replacing something like reddit is... what exactly to replace it with? Reddit is entertaining and free. Every time I quit, I end up still seeking out entertainment, but it's no longer free. Movies, gambling, restaurants

It's sadly ironic to me that a YCombinator commentator manages to be even more hyperbolic over gene therapy fear-mongering than an already very exaggerated message film. Disparities in IQ between people and groups are already massive

It's mostly explained that way on the Wikipedia article, if you read between the lines a bit. His sister was also suspended from school for a bomb threat, so it seems to be a sort of recurring pattern with his family.
