Since you bring up basketball, should we have AA there also? I feel like asians, native americans and jews are being extremely discriminated against in the sport. Or is it OK to say 'fuck those other minoritys' in that case? If a

I would argue the problem with AA is not that people might abuse it, but because its a fundamentally flawed system that starts to prefer certain races to one another. For instance, asians are definitely a minority in the US but are extreme

Maybe in this one, specific case. But not even really here. There are other ways they could do well. Just look at redhat (the company) for instance - You can absolutely build a business on giving away software and supporting it.

The system in California is pretty ideal. I say this as a property owner there. Homes are assessed by the most recent sale price. Both the city and the home owner can appeal that assessment- So in cases where you overpay for whatever reason

The real issue here is that bitly is doing these affiliate conversions without the FTC mandated disclosure¹. If I create a non-affliated link for a amazon product for a blog post and use bitly to shorten it and dont disclose it as a affilia

Water costs less than a half cent per gallon. Water could double, triple or quadruple in price and still be 'affordable' for the poor to drink. It certainly would not cause them to drink bottled water, which is like 10,000x more e

California is running out of water and has a few years left. Thats imminent. Florida sinking in 50, 100 or 200 years is not. A large percentage of tech folk are highly mobile and as such, florida sinking in even 20 years will not dissuade t

If the entire point of installing solar is to offset the cost of your own electricity, it seems like a incredibly stupid investment. You are basically paying tens of thousands of dollars to shave $100 off your electricity bill every month.

I agree that Miami will be underwater eventually. As for it being a reason for anything, I completely disagree. On your logic, nobody would be in SF because the next "big one" is coming. People generally dont give a shit.

I moved from SF to Miami. Its definitely gentrifying, you only need to look at the Wynwood district to see that. Areas where you could have bought a warehouse for next to nothing in the past are now selling for insane amounts, almost like r

The issue here is the mandate that when you create electricity with solar that the electric company must buy that electricity from you as you feed it back into the grid, regardless if they currently need it or not based on demand. These p
