Can you or someone else explain what “scripting” means here? What is the cheat helping with?

I suppose one could make any argument. At the end of the day, the onus is on the company making weapons to prove to the community that its weapons are used for “good” - whatever that means to the community in question. Personally, I think a

Because defense contractors typically think what they are doing is purely good and could in no way be thought of as being bad. A form of “reality-distortion field”.

Some more details on how the flow works: - Sonarr/Radarr periodically scans the RSS feeds for all indexers you have configured and looks for episodes or movies you’re missing (or that can be upgraded). - If it finds something you need,

Just a small note: any media server is the core component. Plex is one popular option, but Emby and Jellyfin (open source) are viable options too. Overseerr/Jellyseerr is for automatically handling requests. This is only useful if you

Have you watched the Black Mirror episode in question (S1E3)? Because the point of it was the tech itself and had nothing to do with sharing or the cloud.

Ah I now see what you mean. I somehow misread your comment as “a single state with nuclear power implies everyone does”. Thanks for clarifying.

I don’t know what you are responding to. I clearly stated that equilibrium is only attainable if everyone has access to nuclear weapons - as in every single sovereign nation - or no one. I prefer an equilibrium of the latter kind.

The only long-term equilibrium states are: no one does or everyone does.

As an EE grad, I would still consider what you did to be “from scratch”. Yes, the RF side is complex, but for the purposes of GPS, it is also generic enough to abstract out. Nice work.

I probably should have said “the easiest way”. I did know that you could define systemd services yourself, but it’s good to see a specific pattern. I still think it’s easier to just spin up a NixOS container - should work for any service ou

If you’re on NixOS (the distro), the only way to run multiple services of the same type (eg, Nginx) is using containers. These can either be NixOS containers or standard Docker/Podman containers [1]. If you want to run a Compose projec

Regarding your questions, they seem to be about NixOS, which is a Linux distro that is centered around Nix. I usually recommend this guide for newcomers to Nix: https://zero-to-nix.com/ I don’t think there’s a beginner-frie

Kodi is still an excellent option if you have it directly serve media from connected storage or a NFS/SMB share. Some people just don’t have the need to “share” their collection, which makes running a media server unnecessary. I believ

I used this wrapper to implement an opening and ending detection tool for “fun” [1]. However, it seems that many programs opt to instead shell out to the ffmpeg CLI. I think it’s usually simpler than linking against the library and to avoid

This is one of the “magical” capabilities provided by Nix and NixOS imo. I recently used this NixOS module to build a new machine as a Proxmox VMA all while sharing the common config with my existing NixOS machine. I then imported the VM in

Yes, to the point where it can become more confusing than helpful. The fact that Nix handles merging data structures for you makes it easy to fall into over modularization.

I'm a beginner myself and have been trying my best to keep things simple. But I do agree that the complexity creep is quite tempting with Nix. Not sure why though..

That's kind of an unfair comparison. The flake you linked: 1. Defines a Go binary (i.e., how to build it) 2. Defines a Docker image that uses said Go binary as an entry point 3. Defines a NixOS module that creates a systemd service tha

True, but with Flakes, as long as you didn’t upddate your lock file, you should always be able to rollback to your previous environment. On NixOS, you can then configure background GC to clean up the Nix store periodically: https:/&#x
