I really like your post. And speaking of csh, I recently gave it a try on NetBSD after reading "An Introduction To The C Shell" by Bill Joy. I do kind of like it but I gave up as I just couldn't deal with using Esc for file c

I have come to the conclusion that I want a shell that is developed independently of any operating system - so that I can have consistency no matter which Unix-like OS I happen to have installed. I've recently tried Bash, Tcsh, Zsh, an

Mastodon is very interesting to me but discoverability would seem to be an issue. Despite Twitter's flaws, I can at least search all of it. What are people using to find things across Mastodon servers? Google search?

Personally, this is why I would prefer that UNIX vendors/distributions not include advanced languages like Python, Perl, Lua, and Ruby. It seems like it ends up causing more issues than it solves.

What I would like to see is for them to ditch all the GNU/GPL stuff and go with BSD for userland. Shipping old stuff is unacceptable and it's not like we can't install it if we want it.

I like Arch a lot, but these days, I prefer Debian. That said, even if you don't use Arch, its wiki is a trove of information.

> These packages are not part of RHEL proper and each one has to be researched and an appropriate package found Given that Centos is now owned by Redhat, isn't this really just theatre?

I am glad to see I am not the only one who gets this. I use IE at work and it is annoying. I have also noticed that Google's Captcha is more annoying than it is on Chrome.

Having tried various Illumos-based operating systems, I could care less if they reopened Solaris with one exception: ZFS. I would like to see them alter the licensing terms of it so that it could be properly integrated into Linux. I believe

Well, it is also bullshit to require the subject of an investigation to assist in their own investigation. I don't care what the laws says - it's wrong.
