There might be legal issues if Apple tried to do that, especially after buying Beats and its streaming service.

This is awful, but in England and America, I foresee similar policies will come - in the name of law, safety, and security.

The commit sounds like the people using OpenBSD for these processors will have two compilers installed. I am not a programmer but I am curious: how does one select GCC as a compiler if the default is Clang? Just change what CC links to?

I agree. There is no reason for ECC to not be the norm. And once scaled up, it would be as cheap as regular RAM.

"1Password has not in fact phased out their native applications or required people to use 1Password.com to store passwords" That's true - but playing hide and go seek with the non-subscription version is uncool.

I will never, ever, ever pay for subscription-ware. I don't mind it being offered as an option but the crap that companies like AgileBits is pulling is ridiculous.

Sometimes I think there should be a list of sites that don't allow long passwords - so that people can be aware of sites that don't take passwords seriously.

I am sympathetic to your comment because it feels like we are babying users. To me, this is no different than when FreeBSD and GNU modified the rm command to prevent people from shooting themselves in the foot.

This is the problem with allowing the government to have invasive surveillance powers - they use them not only to prevent legitimate threats but also to try to prevent the social changes that naturally should occur over time.
