Whenever I see frontpages for these kinds of projects like "a faster X" or "X written in Blub", the first thing I want to see on the frontpage is how this new project compares to X in terms of quality and performance. Even specious benchmar

Nor was I trying to imply that she was. If I did, that was my mistake. But even Taren admits that in his last 24 hours, Aaron did show signs of depression. Obviously that's not a lot of time, but unfortunately it doesn't take a lot of time

It's interesting how often it needs to be restated that Aaron had depression, which probably had much more to do with his final act than the prosecution did. Was Carmen Ortiz a factor? Maybe. But I don't know, because I didn't know Aaron. W

I have no idea where or how I made it sound like someone hijacked these women. That's obviously not the case. They were paid models who likely have no qualms with this work, and again, that's perfectly fine. My issue with the display is it

Do you see nude, painted models at a trade event as being inherently dehumanizing? Because that would be a separate issue from what's being discussed here. The problem -- at least as it seems to me -- is not that there were nude, painted pe

The argument isn't about whether or not they're being degraded, but whether women as a group are being objectified by the people who organized the display. That argument is significantly enhanced by the fact that women were the only "obje

There are very few things that are "universally offensive." As nollidge accurately pointed out, just because women were involved doesn't mean it's not sexist. The fact is that this was widely considered offensive and unnecessary, and the CE

That's actually the problem he's hinting at near the end as he's trying to make his point about optimizing C. The optimizations he needs to make to the C code didn't seem clear to him when he was writing it, but they're very common optimiza

It seems to me like Zack Kopplin has the spirit that is so often idealized around here, he's just not applying it to the market. He saw a problem, he saw that no one was fixing the problem, so he set out to disrupt the status quo and fix it

He's mentioned before that he's toyed with the idea of switching to Haskell. That wasn't for functional programming though. It was instead for the built-in static code analysis the Haskell type system and compiler provides.

I actually prefer the idea of using "Don't" instead of "Cancel." When combined with always using a verb instead of "Yes" or "OK", I think it makes for completely unambiguous dialog. "Would you like to format this disk?" "Format" - "Don't" "

I don't think going paperless is for everyone, and I even agree that paper just feels better. That said, I'm personally transitioning to mostly paperless for purely pragmatic reasons. I can't keep my papers organized, and I no longer want
