_I posted this on the techcrunch article, but thought it might be useful to post it here as well_ Perhaps one thing that the "startup world" could adopt is the practice of postmortems. The game industry, which many have pointed out have man

Honestly, all of those things are still secondary to actually developing. You can write great code without doing static analysis and profiling it. And with the most recent version, NuGet is included even in Express. The biggest roadblocks t

That's not quite fair to Mono ... Xamarin is a great steward of mono, and is supporting the platform quite well. I guess that statement is pretty subjective, but I can only point to the release history of mono, and related products (MonoTou

I rode my motorcycle to work earlier this week and last week. Could have probably done so in a t-shirt (though I tend to wear a jacket anyways, just for safety) ... this is in February, when much of the northeast was being blasted by snow.

I think for #1, there are a number of hosting providers that match this description, such as Dreamhost, that offer a number of open source web apps that you can install with a single click. They manage them, upgrade them, back them up ... a

Unfortunately, working lots of man hours for a smaller or set fee is still tantamount to underpaying. A project where you are overworked is not worth the hassle.

This is a great point here. I got pretty sick in January, I assume it was the flu ... but I didn't go to the doctor because I know there's nothing they can really do. I just got my rest, kept hydrated, and tried to stay as comfortable as po

actually, the onscreen keyboard is quite good IMO. You can switch between the full sized mode (similar to any other tablet), and a layout designed for using your thumbs when holding the device.

Yeah, if I ever did have to troubleshoot in SQL directly, I definitely started doing this ... only changing it to update or delete when I was 100% sure it was affecting only what I wanted to affect.

Well, you can write C# without having to develop on windows through the Mono framework, and Xamarin's products - http://xamarin.com/ These days, you can be a C# developer without having to do an ounce of "Microsoft Stack" programming if y

GCD is very similar to writing against the TPL ... so you have the choice of writing async/await code which makes the execution flow very easy to grok; or if that doesn't make sense in a given scenario you can just fire of a task. Best of b

for #1, there's a bit more to asynchronous programming in C# these days than the TPL. Take a look at the new async/await keywords in C# 5. Lets you write asynchronous code without having to deal with callbacks.
