Maybe at least they will be capable of finishing the CLR version? It would be awesome to have a C-friendly and functional-friendly language that runs on both VMs.

Not too bad, but the Flash/Silverlight versions are usually much smoother: http://www.zoomquilt.org I hope the web will become open to new technologies one day.

"You can make the web as awesome as you want it to be." - not a single word about finally making it open to new languages and technologies. Ignore.

Just a bunch of JS script libraries listed. Where are the other front-end technologies? Welcome to the "open" web, I guess!

Another point: a lot of developers have their favourite languages that happen to be not JS. The so called "open web" proposes segregation via transpilation instead of enabling (some sort of) multilingual techniques and no major te

Well he is introducing a concept of an "unknown race", which sounds kind of like a null value. See how could be related to programming type systems?

I guess the only ones who really set the technologies are the first hires, so it's a big fat myth. Otherwise why is every start-up putting some technology in the job ad title (just look at HN job postings)?

Yes, Erlang is pretty much a domain-specific language for reliable distributed computation. With all the pluses and minuses of DSLs.

Ok, maybe the problem is that I am already avoiding the large objects, mutable state and threads in my mainstream OOP language code. I am also applying the idempotence where applicable.

Yes, I can write a blog post like "I am examining whether HN is tied to JPMorgan hacking". It's likely not, but the words were used in one sentence.

It probably doesn't use the latest version of the HTML5/WebGL plug-in (the entire technology stack is still alpha/beta). I recommend something more sandboxed, like Unity3d plug-in which lets you use proper OpenGL.
