True, but unfortunately architects and monarchs are given credit for buildings, not builders.

"...but it doesn't seem to fulfill any need that I have." It's a novelty app. Just like one of those "crack the screen" apps. You install it once to show to friends and that's it.

Does it really matter in a dynamic scripting language? When using reflection in a strong programming language there is a chance it will fail at runtime instead of being checked at compile time. Ruby only fails at runtime, so as long as the

A gallery of apps developed using Front-End technologies (Qt, XAML, Xamarin, Cocoa, Android GUI API etc.). Demonstrate the ability to choose the right tool when GUI quality is not important (HTML) or is important (native).

All those words surely do sound impressive when you list them all together just like that. But you can remove at least pattern matching and records, as they are coming to C#. At least some of them is a matter of taste (e.g. nested functions

All of the web's legacy languages are lame and not going anywhere - HTML, CSS, JS. At least WPF gives you some choice - C#, F#, VB. All without crap-trans-piling. The REST is not bad though.

Exactly, don't use it - no proper automated refactoring. Not from MS not from third parties. And there are no plans.

F# is a nice language, but not a very necessary one (especially given the lack of tooling). 1) Simply write a quick extension method (not ideal but not a reason to switch languages): var xs = r.YourExtensionMethod<int>(rr =>

Consider switching to Xamarin + MonoGame. You will have to pay, but features might be worth it (better yet familiar language more mainstream in gamedev, decent cross-platform support). Alternatively try using Unity3d if you don't mind

Call it what you want but the end result is obvious: I cannot use anything but HTML to build a browser-based GUI. It already killed the Flash and Silverlight. It is slowly spreading the metastases into mobile and desktop as well.

Client web development is a fad. Using a document markup language and a scripting language to build apps - what a joke. And what is this "desktop development" you are referring to? When it comes to modern development, desktop
