Yes that might change things, but I doubt it. As another poster mentioned, this seems like sleight of hand more than anything.

I'd heard it was just as easy to work around it now, but many voters would be enarmored of Mr $$$ taking a stand now. I didn't realize that site was satire at first: "It is no longer an issue. In one foul swoop, I’ve managed

I've never had joy using Jira, but if there's something nice out there I'm all for it. Mantis was a PHP one back in the day that just did issue tracking, and I loved it for that. But purely issue tracking, not the whole hog.

Well said. Worst UX I've ever seen, with the most ardent corporate fanbase.* * Proviso: Said corporate fanbasers have many times said to me how it's so configurable etc, after spending weeks in the trenches fixing trivial nonsense

I guess we saw the same in Australia with the 457 visa, and our Prime Minister abolishing it now. The act is peppered with phrases like "Preferring local workers etc" but we know how that turned out (and why it was so easy to igno

I wonder if how much they have baked into IPv6, and what I would consider hard-to-read addresses (the hex form anyway), the "special" addresses etc, are providing a barrier to adoption. They should have just expanded the address s

Retail POS could be bad news, but it got me to thinking of all the other possibilities too. Could be disastrous, and I wonder who would wear the egg on the face, Intel or the NSA :) Or no-one is my guess, too big to fail!

Say you had an afflicted machine on the public internet, but completely firewalled in terms of IP, is this exploitable? I'm still not clear on how it happens. Edit: Sorry read a bit deeper. Presumably this has to be enabled in the bios

If anyone visits Melbourne, there is a restaurant called Spicy Fish (I think) in Chinatown. They make a spicy fish soup that feels/tastes like red hot lava made with those peppercorns and chilli presumably. Very nice.

Mythbusters did a show on it (didn't personally watch it) and milk came out on top for them. Capsaicin is fat-soluble, so the lipophilic casein in milk coats it apparently. The sugar water claim seems to be because they use it when mea

Most of my contracts have been: everything to do is ours, if it's on company computers. Some have snuck in clauses like "Everything you do is ours", but 0% of them would work in a court of law.

Every company I've ever worked out, I've identified a 'limit', where I know I won't go beyond, unless I actively do something about it (i.e. talk about a new position, new business activity etc). There is a definite

I guess I'd ask, why do you care? Are you looking to optimize your own workflow, or are just curious about Google's? I don't think we need to be holding an advertising company up as our best achievement. At least I hope not.

Hadn't heard of it either. Sounds like a very greedy guy that just has to blog about his trials and tribulations, and explain just how his greed is actually "drive" and "working hard". This VC kowtowing is sickening

I didn't realize that came from POSIX or was an attempt at complying with it. Yes the array indice makes sense (although exposing that externally and not just adjusting the value internally seems like a poor decision). Not sure why Jav

I'll never understand why they thought 0-based months made sense, but then used 1-based days and 1900-based years. Even if C did it. Almost feel like I can hear the committee: "Meh it's only a Date class, no one will really u

One single language makes sense. Until we get Teilhard's unity. Or something similar. Or Julian May's. The Pliocene saga was an interesting read I thought.
