This is exactly why I opposed any sort of leaderboard idea at my previous job. Work can be stressful enough. Let's not make it any more than it needs to be.

Not really relevant. But I finally got a word to describe my feeling at my previous job. Boreout.

I pay just about €150/month, and that's with added premiums for dental and what not. Which is pretty good.

You should probably put calendar reminders to start eating from the supply in time and re-stock before things expire. If shit hits the fan you probably don't want to be stuck with a supply that's already expired.

The only limiting thing I've experienced with ActiveRecord is when the database becomes larger and more complex. The performance takes a bit of a hit. Which isn't ActiveRecords fault, it's the developer's lack of underst

It baffles me that they offer the new iPad air in only 64GB and 256GB. It just seems really cynical. It's either plenty, or very little. But no nice in between.

Sites used to refuse the "van der " in my last name all the time. Had to remove the whitespaces to get it to work. Also, sites out my last name under v, which isn't how names are sorted here. "van der Name" is usual

> So, no I do not want special infrastructure when I ride my bike, because then you immediately become a second class citizen. When you treat cycling as second class, you get bad infrastructure for sure. Like I said in my other comment.

In the Netherlands it's the other way around. We're removing full roads in cities in favour of bigger cycling paths and more walking area. We've also got cycling roads where cars may drive as a "guest". So really sl

Context matters. If I want to know the age of something, i want "x time ago" to quickly determine age. For many OSS projects this is nice because I can quickly see how active a project is/has been.

That one person (sometimes) puts in more effort into that single library then I've seen some agencies put into a client project.

I follow a lot of Metal artists. And many have switched their live setups to modeling amps long ago. The amount of different tones and effects they use (in a single song) just make that all the more practical. It's also a lot stuff to

It's a choice you need to make when developing. I had to build a one-time export yesterday. Am I gonna spend a lot of time optimizing the speed of it? Or am I going to make it work and get the export to the client faster? It would'

You thoroughly explained exactly what I meant in my comment. I've only seen scrum implemented as a planning tool. But the teams aren't truly agile. > And like the fundamental story about agile is that agile is trial and error,

We do Scrum at my office. But really, it's just applying sprints to waterfall. We do get some shorter feedback loops to improve features before going live. But the whole scope is still set at the start of the project, and that scope ne

Related anecdote. Long ago, lot of forms from American websites wouldn't let me fill in my last name. As it technically contains 3 words. I had to concat "van der" to my last name to finish registration.
