Oh, the memories. My best mate taught me QBASIC 18 years ago. I was ten years old and we did not have Internet access or documentation but we had endless fun. I still remember some of the apps we wrote.

I have seen a few cases where they build a client for the game. It receives messages like a connecting client application does and sends messages to the server as well. The downside of this is that you are trying to honor an unpublished API
