Garry's mod uses Lua on server and clients. It also has the ability to create an embedded web browser on the client. There have been many exploits throughout the years, including this particular exploit with bytecode, though in LuaJIT.

I wish this was more defined or documented somehow. You're kind of left on your own to figure out whether a language is reasonably guaranteed to be safe or not. Some example scenarios: - Code is static and is executed directly by a use

Something from previous discussions about the whole "Rather than paying $50k up front for 8 x A100's, you can just rent some GPU's for $1.2k to train the whole thing in 4 days" That feel off to me is that it completely i

loadstring lwas replaced with load, and dostring was removed, but it's basically just assert(loadstring(code))(...) load is the replacement. i assume the grandparent meant dostring and not eval?

Although I'm skeptical of a watershed moment of agi going avry, I think a more realistic and dangerous scenario would be that AI impacts society similar to how smartphones did in its negative ways. Many AI models slowly eroding society

I feel it was worse than gpt4 at coding at a low level (getting syntax right, forgetting small details, etc) But I can write code so those can be fixed. At a higher level it's OK, but the most valuable thing is being able to have my co

I was really fascinated by Gemini 1.5 pro, though it was a bit slow and sort of 70% accurate in my use case. I have a huge 500k~ tokens and complex niche codebase that I've worked on for many years, largely alone. There are parts of it

The practical main use case I can think of is entertainment. Games could use it, either dynamically or prerecorded. Amateur videos could also use it for fun. Outside of that, more versatile text to speech is generally useful for blind peopl

With my speaker setup I always had slight gpu coil whine from gpu usage. This has helped me a few times to figure out if the gpu is doing any work at all when trying to figure out why something in ie pytorch is slow.
