You don't need to be a _leader_ in an external community to have external context.

I'm really curious about this item >Community Good technical leaders are also leaders in the outside communities. Well, why would they be ? I mean, they can be, but I fail to see it as a requirement. I'm a bit concerned that no

How is saying "it's shit" is "constructive feedback" ? What is the constructive part ? I'm not offended when developers say that, I just observe that they are unable to build and express a reasoning, and that w

That's exactly my point : 30% for everything makes 0 sense ! 1. Distribution shouldn't be indexed on the price of what you're distributing. Distribution costs are mostly flat. They could be charging a per MB cost of download,

It's nice to see Apple admitting that they have for a long time, and for the detriment of everyone, fused two very distincts roles. The first is distributing software, and the second is processing payments. Incredibly, the first is fre

At work, too many websites for professional use are only working on Chrome, so I need to have it. Curiously enough, at home I have no problems with firefox, so I guess B2C devs are more conscious than B2B ones !

But even with fixed prices, books _are_ cheap. Pocket editions here are the price of a cigarettes pack, something a lot of people even not rich afford once or more a week. I don't think affordability is a problem.

I travelled in the UK and in the US, and I felt that classic books were similarly priced there. In France, for books, there is quite often a cycle of "first edition with luxury components around the 20 bucks mark, followed by a pocket

I think you're right that the law preserved the original culture indeed, not that it created one. I must confess that even as a moderate hobbyist, I don't know more than a couple of german authors.
