You need to update your knowledge on what "sacrifice" means, and how children are actually affected by the virus.

You're right, it was too harsh and I have deleted it. I guess I just get a little upset about drug-policy moralizing from people who, well, can't spell the name of the drug in question. But I still should have been more civil

That's a pretty easy one: the e-book readers would be prohibitively expensive, plus those require charging, plus they require tech support. I'm pretty sure that's not going to fly in your usual for-profit prison system. Let&#

I don't think that forcing books to be new and routed through specific, graft-ridden profit centers guarantees that books won't be adulterated at all. Any supply chain can be manipulated and corrupted for profit.

Guess what: inmates are going to get high regardless of whether idiotic book bans are put in place or not. That being the case, it's clearly better to allow the books than not.

It actually differs from airport security in one crucial way: vaccination actually works, and it will continue to work. Airport security measures, at least the ones commonly discussed, the ones that spring up after 9/11, have zero effe

We had plenty of posters and advertising on this. Vaccination rates were great in early 2021, before an entire major political party decided to cynically pretend that fighting vaccination was somehow defending "freedom".

"You lost"? You? This isn't about you. And those 2 years are sunk costs for all of us. You're engaging in magical thinking, here. We can't afford it. It's self-centered. And it does nobody any good, most especi

Yes, they do. Belgian French has "nonante", for instance, which would be better, but which just never caught on in "standard" French. It appears in my Cassell's French Dictionary, but it's marked "dial.&qu

French is not actually that weird; it's just weird from 80-99. From 10-79, it's just like English handles it. They just never came up with single words for 80 and 90.

As the comments point out, our counting system in English does precisely the same sort of thing, often: thirteen, fourteen, fifteen, sixteen, etc., all name the ones digit before the tens. And because of logic and ease of counting relativel

Yes. We emphatically want the rule of law to persist, and for legal avenues to be open for combating conduct like what NSO Group has done here. In particular, by any standard, it certainly seems reasonable for Apple (or even companies we do

Hashish does not actually have to be "refined" at all. There's zero chemical process involved. You're just taking the resin glands off the surface of the plant. Refining cocaine is starkly different from this, of course.

Why would you be ok with this? There is no conceivable reason for below-average web browsers to be propped up by polluting and bastardizing URLs like this. Imagine if Apple tried this. People would riot.

Even the mere existence of this bullshit URL type "microsoft-edge://" is heinous and should be illegal. Or, if we can't make it illegal, can't we have some sort of URL-protection vigilante squad?
