While AMD gets top billing for the compute cores, HPE used the acquired Cray Slingshot network to create this heterogeneous supercomputer. It has a 64-port, 12.8 Tb/s bandwidth switch, it scales to >250,000 host ports with maximum o

Back in college - a while ago - I made a project that played blackjack. I punched holes in a real deck and optosensors would detect light shining through the holes. 4 bits. This solution is significantly more elegant!

FSD on my Model Y keeps me on my toes. Not only do I look out for vehicles, pedestrians, and wild animals, I also have to be ready to take over if it slams on the brakes on the freeway or decides the safest way to navigate a gradual corner

Free speech is only in reference to government punishment. I can spout off and the government won't punch me in the mouth. The person standing next to me, however, might. I don't understand why we keep expecting private companies

In my experience, bash makes the simple things simple and the hard things (like complex pipelines, validating arguments, or “pure bash”) really hard. YMMV. Python makes everything medium difficulty which can be a big win depending on the si

At-will employment. I don’t see how anything outweighs that. Former employer didn’t want to raise salaries nor did they want to lose people. They chose to go to court instead. The traitorous 7?

Can you find little things in the day-to-day that are exciting by setting the bar lower? Can you pick up hobbies outside of work like wood working, reading non-fiction, or baking/cooking? Can you come up with a personal roadmap, one th

Low-level programming, dealing with hardware registers, is so often unsigned that I use unsigned everywhere I don't need negative numbers. Youtube going 64-bit was inevitable, but overflowing 2^31 should not have been one of them. htt

We put geothermal in a house we built outside of Madison, WI. 4 wells dug, 150 ft each, for hearing and cooling. We set our home to 70F 24/7/365 and left it alone. We usually get a week to 10 days of never going above 0 F, and on
