To this point, iPhone performance has grown by first doing their own silicon and then by offering more hardware blocks to do what used to be done purely in SW. Of course, they also rode the wave from 45nm to 7nm. As you look forward from 7n

I only started listening to audiobooks when my commute grew to over an hour each way. They’re great to pass the time and I learn a lot from nonfiction, but I really wish I could dogear sound snippets.

My point was that cars are versatile people moving machines. They’re very imperfect, but they go almost anywhere. HN seems to have an assumption that what’s good for the Bay Area can be exported everywhere, but that’s simply not true.

If the Google Titan Security Key is a rebadged Feitian key, why does it share a name with this piece of custom security silicon they announced a year ago? https://cloudplatform.googleblog.com/2017/08/Titan-in-depth

This is true of larger cities and metros, but the size of the US is too large to get rid of cars. I’m currently on a road trip through at least 7 states, and the car is the only way I pull that off.

Emacs is compared to vim because both can be run in a terminal on a remote machine, not because it’s the JS-editor-of-the-month. There’s a fairly decent chance I’d switch away from vim if I ever had a job where I could edit code locally.
