If the author was an 35 yr old Nigerian immigrant, would the response have been different?

That may be true but it did get slower. Maybe new fancy UI effects, etc. Apple also seems hellbent on fully utilizing all available space on the low end model. IOS+ System Data is about 30GB. The original iPhone had a 4GB model and had spa

It’s also odd as it screams a different problem too. If the employees were advantageous, I agree laying them off should be a long term negative as you seem to suggest. Kinda like cheering the warmth of a burning bed on a cold night. If they

I realize there may not be an ideal oxygen mixture down there but wouldn’t there still be problems with using extreme heat in the presence of hydrogen???

Exactly! How many updates did one apply to Windows 3.0 and Word in those days?? Sure, there might have been a “hotfix” available for download over a long distance BBS, but virtually nobody would have ever done so (even if they were lucky en

It’s not pedantry. Pointers and references are truly different things. A normal C compiler actually has to worry about a lot of extreme cases. Imagine a function takes two pointer arguments. What if they point to the same thing? What if

I’d love to know how the author found this! I mean, who reverse engineers the “About” dialog on an application!?!? That’s the last place I would have ever looked!

Of course there is the other can of worms of debating whether Y is a vowel or not. Also, “YouTube” sounds like it starts with “u” sound, despite starting with “y”. Maybe English is just broken. Words starting with a long “u” sound make me

I think he’s more like a broken clock that is still right twice a day… I’ve seen too many solar panels installed on the north side of a house, under a tree.

I’ve always wondered if there is a hidden system prompt or perhaps direct tuning of the weights. A lot of human written literature is fairly concise. Yet LLM responses seem overly verbose and also too chipper. I don’t understand the orig

Should also add disk space to the requirement list. People will be shocked when they realize word didn’t require gigabytes…

Weren’t electronic health records supposed to solve this problem almost 20 years ago? I would have figured there would have been a massive financial interest in providers not having to waste time dealing with tedious Q&A and data entry

How does this actually work in practice? I suppose altering instruction count or size still dooms the executable to become non-functional? Or do all absolute & relative code & data references all get magically updated?

If only McDonalds charges $20 for a burger instead of $10, people will go elsewhere. If everyone charges $20 for a burger, people will still go to McDonalds. In such a state, no individual place would dare charge $10 again. Why cut revenue

Managing a single commodity device is pretty simple. Could even be a shell script with a few IPMI commands. Managing 100s of devices from a mix of vendors is possible becomes itself a massive ball of crap to stick all the pieces together.

There has to have been more going on, it sure doesn’t add up - unless Ebay was run by a group of cruel Kindergarteners.. At every place I’ve worked, the employees likely had worse thoughts, at least at times, than anything an outsider coul

I suspect they were thrilled at the prospect of a better made product (not encumbered by historical baggage) that cost less, had a lower friction sales process, made by a company actively trying to win them over.

I’ve seen this too and it’s darkly humorous. We published 1-2 releases of our component each month. Eventually another (internal) team would pick it up along with others, test, and release the combined set maybe 1-2 times a year. Customers
