Just a note, not all people are wired the same - some people are very good at working long hours and 7 days a week. I've done it at times, and my brother has done it to an extreme before.

I dunno, I'm comfortable working on a laptop screen - I usually do so for work, even though I also have a work iMac 5k as well. Would it be nice to have more windows side by side for diffing and such, sure, but it's probably only

Sure, and that probably will hurt such bad actors to some degree, but alternatives also come with downsides too - no product is perfect out there, and people often have different priorities. Not to say I applaud Google's strategy - I t

Then if someone disagrees & an argument erupts, then that should not be surprising - that post is equally as culpable for igniting a well-discussed issue by posting something clearly so opinionated/leaning towards one side of an is

To be fair, the person stating that Python 3 breakage was a fantastic decision probably should've avoided referring to that as such, as it almost certainly invites disagreement on a controversial topic.

Compared to over 120k employees? Most employees aren't leaking major secrets, much less leaking on a scale like this.

Apple could feasibly go further and do integration with macOS Siri as well down the line I'd imagine - Google can't do that nearly as deeply.

Yeah, there's ample evidence that it's almost all no gain on the startup exit side, unless you got very lucky and worked for the right company. I can confirm that RSU payouts at the giants far dwarf what you can get at almost all

Stories like this seem to validate that people should choose real liquid equity of public companies over the paper equity of startups when considering employment.

Open source isn’t a silver bullet - if the library isn’t updated frequently, or has some bugs in design, it can be tough to get them fixed. Maintainers tend to be very protective of the codebases they steward too.

An aside to the main content of the article, I found interesting that Mexico topped the list - Mexicans seem to uphold the stereotype that they’re super hard workers.

It doesn't sound like the Republicans are more willing to fix this based on that article - the bill is held up at the House Judiciary Committee, which is controlled by the Republicans.

I don't know if this roadmap really is useful - most developers only work with a subset of the things listed there. This seems especially aimed at more junior developers in general, but looks like it would just overwhelm/confuse t

Truth. This always struck me about most American TV shows, they always drag on to milk every cent instead of formulating strong coherent stories and always end up very shallow as a result.
